Welcome to the SnapDock Photography blog - a space to explore stories, insights, and inspiration from behind the camera.

I'm Timothy

We woke up to a gray sky and steady rain, fully expecting our morning plans to change. Instead of forcing it, we decided to wait and see what the afternoon would bring. Sure enough, the rain cleared, the clouds softened, and it felt like every family photographer in Richmond had the same idea. Even so, the timing ended up being just right.

Molly and June were the absolute sweetest sisters. From tight hugs to Molly leaning in to kiss June on the cheek, those quiet in between moments came so naturally. Nothing felt posed or forced. They were simply being themselves, and those are always the moments I love photographing most.

Before we started, mom mentioned that the girls respond really well to positive reinforcement. Once we leaned into that, celebrating how great they were doing and cheering them on throughout the session, everything clicked. Molly and June listened so well, proudly ran back to mom and dad when I asked, and always came back smiling, usually with a high five to go along with it.

Even though it did not feel like peak fall and many of the leaves had already lost their color, this session had everything that matters. It was relaxed, playful, and full of genuine connection. Huge thanks to the McKenzie family for being so much fun to work with and for trusting me to capture this season for them. Sessions like this are always a reminder that when kids feel encouraged and families are free to just be together, the best moments naturally follow.
